Christopher C. Lein

Christopher Lein headshot

Chris has worked for the government for more than 25 years in various positions. Before joining CISA, Chris was the Director of Financial Operations in the Office of Training and Development (OTD) of Customs & Border Protection (CBP). In this position, he managed a financial plan that provided training to over 22,000 students annually. Prior to his role as Director of Financial Operations, Chris served as the Deputy Executive Director of OTD's Leadership Development Center, which provides leadership training to over 10,000 CBP supervisors. Chris also served as a United States Border Patrol Agent for over 20 years, holding several leadership positions, including Assistant Chief at United States Border Patrol Headquarters and Assistant Director in the Law Enforcement Safety and Compliance Directorate, where he was responsible for overseeing all CBP use of force policy and training. 

Chris is a graduate of the DHS Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program. Chris holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York. He also earned a master's degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College, where he was recognized as a Distinguished Graduate.
