CISA Launches New SAFECOM Website

Today, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) launches a new public safety emergency communications website to host resources created by SAFECOM, the National Council of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (NCSWIC), and the Federal Partnership for Interoperable Communications (FPIC).

“Emergency Communications has and will always be a constant integral part of all public safety operations.  Good Communications is always a key cornerstone component of a successful event.  SAFECOM strives to make all this valuable information available to our stakeholders. Having a consolidated website to access this information especially in these times is a tremendous advantage to our collective membership,” said Chief Gerald Reardon, SAFECOM Chair, City of Cambridge Fire Department, Massachusetts.

The SAFECOM website migrates from the Department of Homeland Security domain to the CISA domain, but the same resources, such as the SAFECOM Interoperability Continuum, SAFECOM Guidance on Emergency Communications Grants, Emergency Communications Governance Guide for State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial Officials, Next Generation 911 Self-Assessment Tool, and Guidelines for Encryption for Land Mobile Radio, will still be available to public safety community.

John Miller, NCSWIC Chair, New Jersey Statewide Interoperability Coordinator said, “our public facing webpages keep everyone current in the ever-changing lifecycle of emergency communications.”  NCSWIC, “as a national organization our webpage provides the means of promoting our mission, activities, and to see the value of each Statewide Interoperability Coordinator across this great nation.”  Having the NCSWIC site on the CISA domain also connects to states and territories to the resources CISA provides not only on emergency communications such as Statewide Interoperability Communications Plans via the Interoperable Technical Assistance Program, but to other cybersecurity and infrastructure resources CISA provides.

Redirects have been setup to migrate traffic to the new site, but please add these URLs to your list of favorites: cisa.gov/safecom, cisa.gov/ncswic, and cisa.gov/fpic.  As SAFECOM, NCSWIC, and FPIC continue to develop new products for public safety emergency communications officials new products will continue to be announced on the SAFECOM Blog at cisa.gov/safecom/blog
