Kevin Benacci serves as the Chief External Affairs Officer at the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). As a core member of CISA leadership, Benacci heads a team that is responsible for all aspects of communications and messaging, media relations, branding, and marketing, as well as congressional engagement. The Office of External Affairs works across the agency to share CISA’s story with the U.S. Congress, stakeholders, media, and, most importantly, the American people.
Before joining CISA, Benacci supported elected officials. He served as Chief of Staff to Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel, where he managed the daily functions of the office and its external relationships with the media, Ohio legislature, federal agencies, financial institutions, and elected officials throughout Ohio and across the country. Prior to this, Benacci worked as deputy chief of staff and communications director for U.S. Congressman Dave Joyce, a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
Before entering the political arena, Benacci worked in a sales role at a boutique telecommunications consulting firm outside of New York City. He is a graduate of Boston College with degrees in communications, human development, and organizational studies.
