CISA Releases New Cyber Essentials Toolkit

WASHINGTON – As a follow-up to the November 2019 release of Cyber Essentials, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released the first in a series of six Cyber Essentials Toolkits. This is a starting point for small businesses and government agencies to understand and address cybersecurity risk as they do other risks. CISA’s toolkits will provide greater detail, insight and resources on each of the Cyber Essentials’ six “Essential Elements” of a Culture of Cyber Readiness.

Cyber Education and Awareness

America needs well trained professionals working in cybersecurity roles. These professionals are critical in both private industry and the government for the security of individuals and the nation. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is committed to strengthening the nation’s cybersecurity workforce through standardizing roles and helping to ensure we have well-trained cybersecurity workers today as well as a strong pipeline of future cybersecurity leaders of tomorrow.

Partnership Engagement Branch

The Partnership and Engagement (P&E) branch of Stakeholder Engagement and Cyber Infrastructure Resilience (SECIR) serves as the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's (CISA) focal point for strategic and customer engagement with State, Local, Tribal and Territorial (SLTT) and private sector customers. P&E consists of three inter-dependent sections: Industry Engagement, SLTT Engagement, and the Customer Experience Management Office.

Cyber Storm VI

The Cyber Storm exercise series is the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) national, biennial distributed exercise entirely focused on cyber incident response. Mandated by Congress, these exercises are part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to assess and strengthen cyber preparedness, examine incident response processes, and enhance information sharing among federal, state, international, and private sector partners. Each Cyber Storm event builds on lessons learned from previous exercises and real world incidents, ensuring that participants address relevant and timely challenges.

CISA Regions

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has set up regional offices across the country to improve the delivery of the department’s services to critical infrastructure owners and operators and state, local, tribal, and territorial partners, and to enhance support to existing CISA field staff by relocating administrative, logistical, and regional operations capabilities from CISA headquarters (HQ) to 10 regional offices.
