NCSWIC Releases Strategic Plan and Implementation Guide for 2020

The National Council of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (NCSWIC) is pleased to announce the release of its Strategic Plan and Implementation Guide for 2020. The plan is a critical mid-range (three-year) tool to help NCSWIC and its partners prioritize resources, strengthen governance, identify future investments, and address interoperability gaps.

CISA Releases the FY 2020 Rural Emergency Medical Communications Demonstration Project (REMCDP) Notice of Funding Opportunity

On May 8, 2020, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released the Fiscal Year 2020 Rural Emergency Medical Communications Demonstration Project (REMCDP) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). This opportunity will fund up to two demonstration projects that address the National Emergency Communications Plan and identify innovative solutions to improve the delivery of rural medical communications.

Last week, CISA released an update to the National Emergency Communications Plan (NECP), the Nation’s strategic plan to strengthen and enhance emergency communications capabilities. The NECP provides guidance to those that plan for, coordinate, maintain, invest in, and use operable and interoperable communications to support public safety operations.

In addition to the five elements of the Interoperability Continuum, planning is a major factor for interoperable communications. The documents in this section include resources about the National Emergency Communications Plan, education and outreach programs, and maintaining awareness of the specific issues and barriers that affect interoperability communications.
