Patrice Ward is the Chief Acquisition Executive (CAE) for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). As the CAE, Ward oversees and provides guidance to all CISA acquisition programs with a total annual spending of almost $1.5 billion dollars.
Prior to becoming the CAE, Ward was the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD) Chief of Acquisition for over three years. During that time, she oversaw NPPD’s 27 cyber, infrastructure, biometric, and physical security acquisition programs. Ward also solidified and enriched the Acquisition Management Office through increasing staff, producing NPPD specific acquisition policies and instructions, and expanding customer service standards. Ward began her federal government career in 1987 at Los Angeles International Air and Sea ports, first as an Immigration Inspector, then as a Supervisory Immigration Inspector. She spent over 10 years as an Assistant Chief Inspector at the former Immigration and Naturalization Service’s Headquarters in Washington, DC. She led projects/programs that supported major international events such as the World Cup, Tall Ships, 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, the 2002 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Salt Lake City, and the Attorney General’s Data Management Improvement Act Task Force.
When the Department of Homeland Security was established in 2003, Ward joined the United States Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology Program (US-VISIT) as the Project Manager for the first biometric exit project. Ward held numerous positions at US-VISIT such as the Director (Acting) for Program Integration and Mission Services and Deputy Assistant Director for Project Management. She was responsible for leading over 200 staff and a budget of more than $300 million dollars.
In 2011, Ward joined the NPPD front office leading numerous projects as the Associate Director for Transition, Director of Business Enhancement and Integration Team, Director (Acting) of Information Management and Disclosure Branch, and lead on employee engagement activities, such as the Federal Viewpoint Survey.
Ward attended Clarkson University and holds the DHS Senior Level FAC/P/PM certificate.
