DHS Acting Secretary Wolf and CISA Director Krebs to Participate in Livestreamed Press Conference on Election Day Operations
U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Acting Secretary Chad Wolf and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Director Christopher Krebs will tour CISA’s election operations center on Election Day and host a press conference to discuss CISA’s Election Day operations.
CISA is currently in an enhanced readiness posture in support of the 2020 elections. CISA will host an in-person operations center in both the classified and unclassified space at our Arlington, VA headquarters. The operations center will bring together our Federal partners – including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Department of Defense (DOD), Intelligence Community (IC), and the United States Postal Service (USPS) - with representatives from the National Association of Secretaries of States (NASS), National Association of State Election Directors (NASED), Elections Assistance Commission (EAC), both major political parties, social media companies, election technology companies, and others. The operations center will allow participants to share information quickly and will ensure that government and non-government stakeholders have visibility on activity and can quickly address any potential issues on Election Day. In addition to the in-person operations center, for the third year in a row CISA has stood up a virtual National Cybersecurity Situational Awareness Room, an online portal for state and local election officials and their private sector partners to share real-time information and support as needed. CISA will remain in an enhanced readiness posture through Election Day.
