Intent: Provides a step-by-step guide to help near-port communities effectively engage in port decisions that may impact local land use, environmental health and quality of life.

The Community Action Roadmap is available as a PDF document and online. It a framework designed to both familiarize community members with port "basics" and to help them build capacity for engaging with ports to advocate for protection from environmental and health hazards. The roadmap supplements its companion document "A Ports Primer for Communities."

Data Parameters

Inputs: This roadmap requires effort to gather communities and work through all six of the steps including completing the exercises and cross-referencing the "Port Primer for Communities" guide.
Outputs: The PDF includes six steps designed to gather a diverse array of community members, identify their goals and concerns, identify avenues for influencing port actions, and making their case for change.
