Freight and Fuel Transportation Optimization Tool (FTOT)
Description
Developer/Partners: Volpe, DOT (2018)
Relevant Hazard/Threat(s): N/A
Intent: Helps government agencies analyze freight and fuel transport options and hone in on multimodal transportation flow patters and emissions associated w/ future freight and energy scenarios. Flexible scenario testing tool designed to analyze a variety of commodities, datasets, and assumptions and customizable to needs of the user
FTOT helps government agencies analyze freight and fuel transport options and hone in on multimodal transportation flow patterns and emissions associated with future freight and energy scenarios
Data Parameters
Inputs: Utilizes an intermodal network constructed by Volpe from private and public data sources on truck, rail, water, and pipeline links
Outputs: Optimized scenarios for transporting material include material/commodity flows, costs, CO2 emissions, fuel burn, number of vehicle trips, and distance by mode for each link in the network
Caveats
** Restricted Access ** May need to work with Volpe for access; Ports are just the end/beginning of the network not the focus; Only for specific types of fuel
