Lock Performance Monitoring System (LPMS)
Description
Developer/Partners: USACE (N/A)
Relevant Hazard/Threat(s): N/A
Intent: Capture data relating to operations of locks, which acts as a planning tool for vessel operators and aids them in tracking progress of goods shipped on U.S. waterways. It provides daily and half hourly snapshots of data on U.S. flag vessels and foreign vessels transiting a USACE owned or operated lock structure.
The site includes traffic and hydrologic information submitted by the locks via LPMS and has many specific rollups of interest including commodity tonnage, lock closure reports and delays, among others.
Data Parameters
Inputs: Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) data on U.S. flag vessels and foreign vessels transiting a USACE owned or operated lock structure.
Outputs: Lock queue reports, lock queue flotilla reports, lock status reports, monthly locked tonnage reports, map of river 'status' between set river miles
Caveats
Only accessible on USACE ACE-IT Machines; non-USACE must submit FOIAs to get non-publicly available LOMA data
