Title Integrated Rapid Visual Screen (IRVS)
Description
Developer/Partners: DHS (2011)
Relevant Hazard/Threat(s): All hazards
Intent: Allows users to compile a preliminary assessment of the relative risk and resilience of 15 types of buildings to 20 hazardous events, including natural hazards. The procedure is intended to be used to identify the level of risk for a single building, to identify the relative risk among buildings in a community or region, and to set priorities for further risk management activities. Information from the visual inspection can be used to support higher-level assessments and mitigation options by experts.
Integrated Rapid Visual Screening (IRVS) for Buildings is a software-facilitated procedure for assessing the risk to buildings from natural and human-caused hazards that have the potential to cause catastrophic losses. Using the tool requires downloading and installing software on a computer or tablet running the Windows
