WASHINGTON – Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) hosted the inaugural meeting of the nation’s first Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Supply Chain Risk Management Task Force. The task force is a public-private partnership formed to examine and develop consensus recommendations to identify and manage risk to the global ICT supply chain. Executive Committee Organizations on the Task Force include:

Industry: Accenture, AT&T, CenturyLink, Charter, Cisco, Comcast, CTIA, CyberRx, Cybersecurity Coalition, Cyxtera, FireEye, Intel, Information Technology Industry Council, Information Technology Information Sharing and Analysis Center, Microsoft, National Association of Broadcasters, NCTA, NTCA, Palo Alto Networks, Samsung, Sprint, Threat Sketch, TIA, T-Mobile, USTelecom, Verizon

Government: Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, Department of Treasury, General Services Administration, Department of Justice, Department of Commerce, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Social Security Administration

Executive Committee members agreed that the Task Force would begin by conducting an ecosystem analysis of existing industry and government supply chain initiatives to identify consensus best practices and concentrate efforts on critical gaps. This analysis will allow for a better refined understanding of the current landscape, the complexity of which has increasingly demanded enhanced stakeholder clarity. It will also help steer future work stream efforts to priority areas for collective action.

“The current cyber threats facing government and industry require a more innovative and collaborative solution to managing risk. That is why these partnerships are so important, now more than ever,” said DHS Under Secretary Christopher Krebs. “By bringing together some of the nation’s leading telecom companies and government agencies, we have a unique ability to confront today’s challenges by sharing information across government and industry in real-time and developing the ability to better plan for the risks of the future. I’m grateful to all of the members of the executive committee for coming together to confront these threats as one.”

The Task Force is sponsored by the National Protection and Programs Directorate’s National Risk Management Center and represents a key pillar of the Department’s Supply Chain Risk Management Program.
