CISA Kicks Off Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month

WASHINGTON – The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) kicked off Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month today. Infrastructure Security Month is an annual effort to educate and engage the private sector, all levels of government, and the American public about the vital role critical infrastructure plays to our nation’s way of life and why it is important to strengthen critical infrastructure security and resilience. 

“America’s national security and economic prosperity rely on critical infrastructure that faces a variety of risks,” said CISA Assistant Director for Infrastructure Security Brian Harrell. “CISA works with our government and industry partners to gain a clear understanding of what these risks are and what needs to be done to mitigate them. This is a whole of nation effort, which is why we will spend this month engaging our stakeholders and the public in understanding this important work.” 

CISA will utilize November as an opportunity to asks every organization to boost resilience through preparedness and exercises and promote smart, secure investment in resilient infrastructure. CISA works year-round with businesses, communities, and government partners at all levels to provide training and other tools and resources related to critical infrastructure security. Efforts focus around raising awareness among the broader community on the need for critical infrastructure security and resilience and enhancing their current efforts.  

Each week during November, CISA will promote different themes related to infrastructure security and resilience, including: 

  • Our interconnected world: Cyber-physical convergence
  • Protecting our hometowns: Soft target security
  • Securing the American Democracy: Election security 2020
  • Secure from the inside out: Combatting insider threats
