WASHINGTON — Yesterday the President appointed Bryan S. Ware as the Assistant Director for Cybersecurity at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Since early 2019, Assistant Director Ware has been serving as the Department’s Assistant Secretary for Cyber, Infrastructure, and Resilience Policy.

“It’s an honor to be joining the incredible team at CISA,” said Assistant Director Ware. “As Assistant Secretary for cyber policy at DHS, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with CISA on our shared goal to defend our nation’s infrastructure against physical and cyber threats. CISA has a critical mission as our nation’s leading cybersecurity agency and I do not take this responsibility lightly. I look forward to continuing to drive the ball down the field.”

In 1998, Assistant Director Ware founded an artificial intelligence company, which he led until it was acquired in 2013 by Haystax.  After serving as Chief Technology Officer of Haystax, he served as CEO from 2016 until 2018.  Assistant Director Ware started his professional career with leading defense contractors working on advanced technology programs, including the Star Wars program, early UAV payloads, and counterterrorism technologies.  He has been issued multiple patents in artificial intelligence and mobile technology. He holds a degree in Applied Optics from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
