The removal of this material eliminates redundancy and enhances the mission critical role of SAFECOM as a principal coordination mechanism authorized in statute.”
Overview
FPIC serves as a coordination and advisory body to address technical and operational wireless issues relative to interoperability within the public safety emergency communications community, interfacing with voluntary representatives from federal, state, local, territorial, and tribal organizations.
Mission
Address communications interoperability among the public safety community at all levels of government to foster intergovernmental cooperation and identify and leverage common synergies.

FPIC Relationships
- The FPIC is a Technical Advisory Resource to the Emergency Communications Preparedness Center (ECPC) Steering Committee
- The FPIC has a collaborative relationship with the SAFECOM-National Council of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (NCSWIC) Joint Technology Policy Committee
- The FPIC serves as a technical advisory group to the NCSWIC Executive Committee
- The FPIC is a liaison advisory group to National Public Safety Telecommunications Council (NPSTC)
FPIC Products
FPIC develops products to address topics and questions concerning interoperable communications, security services, spectrum (related to interoperability), and standards.
