Livestream of Final Round Will Include 5 Teams Competing in Virtual Scenario
WASHINGTON – The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is hosting the final rounds of the second annual President’s Cup Cybersecurity Competition this week. The President’s Cup is a national competition designed to identify, challenge, and reward the best cybersecurity talent in the federal workforce. It’s open to both the federal civilian workforce and members of the military. The first round of the President’s Cup started in August with 249 teams and more than 1,400 individuals across two tracks. Following two rounds of competition, there are now five teams and 10 individuals in each track competing in the finals.
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas will deliver remarks on the Department’s initial steps to advance the President’s commitment to elevate cybersecurity and will issue a call to action to build a diverse cybersecurity workforce and leverage DHS’s partnerships to tackle the growing risk from ransomware.
“The President’s Cup showcases some of the best cybersecurity talent in the country,” said CISA Acting Director Brandon Wales. “Those competing this week, like countless other men and women on the front lines, are our nation’s greatest asset when it comes to securing cyberspace. Just as they are constantly adapting and innovating to stay one step ahead of the adversary, we must adapt too, and that means continuing to grow and diversify the country’s cybersecurity workforce. CISA is committed to working with our partners across government and in the private sector on this important mission.”
The President’s Cup is being held virtually this year for the health and well-being of the participants. A livestream will be available on Thursday to watch the final round of the team competition.
The livestream can be viewed February 25, at CISA.gov/live from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. Secretary Mayorkas will speak at 12 p.m. Throughout the day, teams will compete to be the first to solve a series of cybersecurity challenges set in a fictional scenario.
