About the Speakers
Moderator: Alex Joves, Regional Director Region 5, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)
Mr. Joves was selected as Regional Director in 2016. He brings 25 years of government service to the position, working in the Federal Civil Service and U.S. Coast Guard, including tours in the White House Situation Room, White House Military Office, US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary’s Office, and seagoing, law enforcement assignments in both the Atlantic and Pacific areas. He held leadership positions across DHS with the Principal Federal Official Program, Special Events Working Group, Office of Operations Coordination, Counterterrorism Advisory Board, National Terrorism Advisory System, National Infrastructure Coordinating Center, Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards, and Office of Infrastructure Protection. Prior to his Federal career, he was an attorney in private sector practice.
A career member of the Senior Executive Service, Mr. Joves is a graduate of the US Coast Guard Academy and The George Washington University Law School. He currently serves on the Chicago Federal Executive Board Executive Committee and FBI Chicago Field Office Joint Terrorism Task Force Executive Board.
Alicia Tate Nadeau, IL Security Advisor, National Guard
Alicia Tate-Nadeau was appointed by Governor JB Pritzker to serve as the Director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) and Illinois Homeland Security Advisor in January 2019. Tate-Nadeau serves as the Regional Vice President and sits on the Homeland Security Committee for the National Emergency Management Association (NEMA), the Cybersecurity Committee for the Council of Governors and is nominated for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC). Tate-Nadeau brings more than three decades of experience in national security, emergency management, and public safety issues. Prior to this appointment, Tate-Nadeau served as Executive Director of the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications where she implemented and managed the third largest 9-1-1 call center in the nation.
Alicia Tate-Nadeau also spent more than three decades with the Illinois National Guard. Her time in the military included serving as the Assistant Adjutant General for the Illinois National Guard and concurrently as the Deputy Commanding General, Army National Guard, United States Army Maneuver Support Centerof Excellence in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, as well as tours overseas with missions in Iraq and Israel.
Tate-Nadeau is also active in several civic organizations. She serves on the American Red Cross of Chicago and Northern Illinois Regional Board of Directors. In her capacity as Retired Brigadier General, Tate-Nadeau, is a member of Mission: Readiness, the nonpartisan national security organization of over 700 retired admirals and generals who strengthen national security by ensuring kids stay in school, stay fit, and stay out of trouble.
