Reporting a Cyber Incident

Access resources to report a cyber incident

It is recommended that ECCs refer to and follow their cyber incident response plan as soon as they observe signs of compromise and seek additional reporting options to assist in notification and coordination. If a cyber response plan has not been established, please see resources below. In addition to reporting to CISA and the FBI, consider reporting cyber incidents to local law enforcement and appropriate regulatory agencies, as needed.

Find and Report to Your State or Local Fusion Center

(DHS) Fusion Centers are state-owned and operated centers that serve as focal points in states and major urban areas for the receipt, analysis, gathering and sharing of threat-related information between federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial agencies and private sector partners.

Find and Report to Your Local Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Field Office

(FBI) The FBI is the lead federal agency for investigating cyberattacks and intrusions. They collect and share intelligence and engage with victims while working to unmask those committing malicious cyber activities, wherever they are.

Report to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)

(FBI) Report individual instances of cybercrime to the IC3, which accepts internet crime complaints from both victim and third parties cyber activities, wherever they are.
