Counter-IED Independent Study Training
Independent study training is designed to build nationwide counter-improvised explosive device (C-IED) and risk mitigation capabilities and increase awareness of IED threats. These web-based courses are ideal for individuals who prefer self-paced learning and those with busy schedules by offering the convenience of learning anytime, anywhere.

AWR-341 IED Awareness and Safety Procedures | Provides foundational knowledge about IEDs and proper safety precautions as well as procedures for reacting and responding to unattended and suspicious items. |
AWR-349 Homemade Explosives and Precursor Chemical Awareness | Provides foundational knowledge about homemade explosives (HME), the precursor chemicals that are used to manufacture HME, and actions to take when encountered. |
AWR-903 Bomb Threat Preparedness and Response | Uses interactive exercises and case histories of what actually happened in bomb incidents to familiarize participants with the steps necessary to prepare for and respond to a bomb threat. |
AWR-911 Bomb-Making Materials Awareness: Your Role | Provides participants foundational knowledge of how to recognize suspicious purchasing behaviors in a retail setting that might indicate bomb-making activity and what to do when a suspicious incident occurs. |
AWR-921 Bomb-Making Materials Awareness: Employee Training | Provides participants foundational knowledge of how to recognize suspicious purchasing behaviors in a retail setting that might indicate bomb-making activity and what to do when a suspicious incident occurs. |
AWR-943 Suspicious Activity Recognition for Bombing Prevention | Provides public safety and security professionals the knowledge and skills to identify suspicious activity for bombing prevention related to a facility/system or a planned or unplanned event. |
PER-939 High-Risk Explosives Sweep | Provides Department of Defense explosive ordnance disposal units, and public safety bomb squads the foundational knowledge of explosive sweep protocols and an opportunity to practice high-risk explosives sweep techniques of a facility, an area and routes. |

Accredited Training

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Office for Bombing Prevention is accredited by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) to award continuing education units for its courses.
Select courses are nationally certified by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) for in-service Peace Officer Standards and Training certification.
